2013 WSOP – Day 3 Report

Day 3 of the 2013 WSOP was a rather peculiar one in that it awarded no bracelets since there were no winners, despite the fact that there were no fewer than 4 events running.
Event #2, the $5k NL Holdem 8-handed one, saw 28 players return to its tables on what was its 3rd day of action. The plan wasn’t for the field to play down to a winner though, instead, the more modest objective of reaching the final table was set.
Trevor Pope was the one who finished the day with the largest stack, putting himself into pole position for the home stretch of the poker tournament. It was thanks to Pope that day 3 turned out as short as it turned out. David Sands, Peter Gould and Joe Serock all bit the dust early in the day. They were followed to the rail by Griffin Benger, who exited in 16th, Chris DeMaci and Brian Rast. Ismael Bojang became a victim as well, sent to the rail by Pope. It was thanks to that pot that Pope’s stack shot past the 1.7 million chip mark.
Start of the day chip leader Tom Marchese almost made the final table, but eventually he was forced to admit defeat in 10th place. He was eliminated by Jamie Armstrong. The official final table bubble-boy of the event was Rafal Michalowski.

Event #3, the $1.5k NL Holdem Re-entry event saw 543 players return to its tables. Thiago Nishijima was the start of the day chip leader. After 10 levels of action, only 38 players were left standing. The new chip leader was Seth Berger.

Event #4, the $1.5k NL Holdem Six handed event played down to 117 players, with Greg Hobson leading the pack. Event #5, the $2.5k Omaha/7 Card Stud Hi/Lo event got going, with 374 players bellying up to its tables.
