2013 WSOP – Erick Lindgren Wins Event #32

Erick Lindgren has gone through a bit of an unpleasant episode in life and in his poker career when
Full Tilt Poker went under, and - although he probably never admitted it – the whole thing had a rather profound negative effect on his overall performance as a poker play. Back in 2008, many counted him as the world’s best poker player and all that momentum and good vibe was suddenly lost. He now seems to be officially back in the saddle though: he just won the $5k NL Holdem six-handed event of the
2013 WSOP (#32) taking home a prize of $606.3k and finally brushing the Full Tilt monkey off his back for good.
The final day of the
poker tournament saw 14 players return. Jonathan Little had the largest stack, but he quickly dropped some chips, doubling up Erick Lindgren. From there on out, Lindgren never looked back. By the time the official final table was reached, he was the chip leader. The first victim of the final table was Ryan D’Angelo, who picked up $74.7k for his efforts. D’Angelo was followed to the rail by Vasile Buboi, who was the first player to reach 6-figures prize-wise.
Connor Drinnan fell in 4th place next, picking up $157.2k. Jonathan Little, the start of the day chip leader, faded away in 3rd place, setting up the heads-up stage of the event. Little picked up a $238.8k prize. Needless to say, the one responsible for his elimination was Lindgren, who thus got off to a 4-1 chip advantage when the heads-up stage of the event commenced. Despite being the underdog, Lee Markholt – Lindgren’s heads-up opponent – fought back. In spite of his heroics he was forced to admit defeat though, his J,9o no match for Lindgren’s pocket rockets in the last hand of the tournament.
