2013 WSOP – Event #11 Completes its Second Day

The second day of the $2.5k NL Holdem 6-handed event (#11) of the 2013 WSOP was a truly action-packed affair. Players were really looking to put the squeeze on their opponents and the chips went into the middle en-masse, with frightening regularity. When the dust settled in the wake of the intense green-felt war, Levi Berger had the largest stack of chips bagged.
Given the intense action and the wild variance which usually associates such aggression, it wasn’t exactly a surprise that Berger’s day was anything but smooth sailing. In fact, at one point in the event, he had one foot on the side-line, when he pushed all-in with pocket Qs against James Carroll’s pocket rockets. Things looked dire for the eventual chip leader at that point, but Lady Luck did not desert him: he hit a two-outer (another Q fell) and he took down a massive pot, which he then used to power his way to the top of the day 2 chip count.

A total of 122 players showed up at the beginning of the day, looking to play down as close to the final table as possible, but the first objective was obviously to land in the money. Set for 108th place, the money bubble burst when Corey Burbick busted out at the hands of Andrew Lichtenberger.
As the action sped up again in the wake of the money-bubble, several notables fell by the side. Erick Lindgren was eliminated during this stage of the poker tournament, followed by JC Tran, Chino Rheem, Chris Moorman and Jeffrey Lisandro.
Despite the post-bubble carnage, several “name” players managed to survive: Tuan Le will be back on Day 3, together with Scott Clements, Eddy Sabat and Jacob Bazeley.
