2013 WSOP – Event #13 – Day 2 Action

The second day of the $5k Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo 8 or better event of the
2013 WSOP is ongoing as you’re reading this. This far, the field has managed to play down to the final 22, with Tom Schneider eliminated in 23rd place a few minutes ago.
Yuval Brohnstein is the current chip leader, with 370k chips to his name, but that can obviously change any minute. At the start of the second day of action, there were quite a few name players in the field still, among them
PokerStars’ Daniel Negreanu and Barry Greenstein. Unfortuntely, none of these two players are in contention anymore.
Greenstein was eliminated about 3 and a half hours ago by Gavin Smith, who made a sneaky flush to send Greenstein packing. Smith had a great run in the event indeed, hitting one flush after another and becoming a virtual “flush machine” as Mike Matusow noted in the wake of the above said hand.
Negreanu was eliminated a bit later by Mike Leah. Negreanu was the one who pushed all his chips into the middle first and Leah pushed all the other players out of the way by the 5th street. Although the 6th street did give Negreanu a two pair, Leah made a better two pair. 7th street was a brick for both players and Negreanu was eliminated.
The last elimination of the day (thus far) was that of Tom Schneider, who bit the dust in 23rd place. Schneider was all-in by the 5th street of a hand which saw him go up against Francis Mariani and Tuan Vo. Schneider had a flush draw, which he ended up missing. Vo and Mariani ganged up on him and they ended up slitting the pot, scoring a textbook elimination.
Qualifiers for various side events and the Main Event of the 2013 WSOP are still running at PokerStars.
