2013 WSOP – Event #19 Plays Down to its Final 16

The second day of the $5k PL Holdem event of the
2013 WSOP is in the books and the end of the day chip leader is Jesse Martin. The event – which saw 77 players return to its tables on Day 2 - ended with 16 players still nurturing bracelet hopes. Martin was the only player who managed to amass more than 400k chips at the finish line. Martin – like many of this year’s winners and provisional chip leaders – is not a stranger to the WSOP scene: in 2012 he put together a rather impressive run, cashing no fewer than 7 times and making a final table.
Beside Martin, quite a number of other “name” professionals made the cut as well: Dan Kelly was the one who stole the limelight, making yet another Day 3. If you’re thinking there has barely been a Day 3 without Dan Kelly in it lately, you’re probably right: this one is his 4th such deep run at this year’s Series, thus far however, he hasn’t managed to get his hands on a bracelet.
The first objective of the day was the bursting of the money-bubble. The eliminations started flowing almost as soon as the action kicked off. Several notables hit the rail during this stage.
PokerStars pro Noah Schwartz was among them, together with Robert Mizrachi. Joe Hachem and Nick Jivkov busted out as well with nothing to show for their efforts.
After the bubble was reached, the action froze. It took quite a bit for Marco Traniello to finally blind down to almost naught and be pushed out the door by Dimitar Danchev.
Paul Volpe, Amit Makhija and Vitaly Lunkin were all eliminated in the frenzy that ensued after the bubble. Danchev, Davidi Kitai and Bertrand Grospellier made it to Day 3 though.
PokerStars offer some mind-numbingly generous online qualifiers to the WSOP Main Event and to some of the side-events as well.
