2013 WSOP – Event #56 Plays Down to Final 2

Another event which failed to play down to its winner today was event #56, the $2.5k
NL Holdem one, but this one came pretty close indeed. The action was already 25 hands into the heads-up stage when the scheduled 10 levels expired and the day was called. This way, another day will be added to allow Nikolaus Teichert and Vincent Maglio to decide the fate of the 56th gold bracelet awarded by the
2013 WSOP. The player who has the largest stack going into the final day is Teichert: he had 7.62 million chips bagged at the end of the day, quite a bit more than his opponent who had to settle for 5.41 million. Still, the difference isn’t particularly large, so it’s safe to say it’s still anyone’s tournament at this point.
A total of 23 players returned to the tables at the beginning of the day, aiming to at least make the final table. Jonathan Tamayo was the first victim of the day. Other “name” players who fell before the final 9 was reached were OJ Ojiri (the second day’s chip leader) who fell in 19th place and Owen Crowe, who was sent to the rail in 11th place.
Once the final table action got going, it only took 22 hands for the first victim to bite the dust. Nicolas Levi was that player. He was bounced in 9th place by Teichert. Sebastian Comel, the player who had the largest stack when the 9-handed action commenced, was the next one to head to the rail. Nicolas Faure followed him to the sidelines.
Kirill Rabtsov fell next, followed by Josh Arieh. Sergey Lebedev faded away in 4th place, and Dan Owen’s bust in 3rd to set up the heads-up stage of the event.
888 Poker’s online qualifiers carry some of the best value out there. Their Main- and side event qualifiers are second to none indeed.
