2013 WSOP – Josh Pollock Wins Event #22

Event #22 of the 2013 World Series of Poker went into the books a few hours ago, and the winner is Josh Pollock, who picked up the $279.4k prize, offered by the $1.5k PLO tournament. To get to the top, Pollock had to best an initial starting field of 1,021 players, and a rather formidable final hurdle in PokerStars pro Noah Schwartz, whom he defeated heads-up.
9 players returned to the tables on the last day of the poker tournament, set on playing down to a winner. The first victim of the final table was Brandon Crawford, who got sent to the rail by Noah Schwartz on one of the first few hands of the day. Despite what we would call a good start, the action froze for a while after Pollock bit the dust and the next elimination took more than 60 hands to finally work down to.

David Greene was the next victim, followed to the rail by Eddie Blumenthal. Schwartz and Pollock were responsible for pretty much every one of the eliminations that had occurred that far at the final table and Pollock would be the one sending the next player – Eric Shanks – to the rail as well in 6th place. He continued after the dinner break where he had left of previously: he knocked out Shawn Silber in 5th place. James Parks then managed to land a punch himself, knocking out KT Parks (there’s no relation between the two despite the similar names) in 4th place. The first player to take home a 6-figure prize was James Parks who got sent home in 3rd place by Schwartz, picking up a $108.1k reward.

The heads-up stage of the action lasted for 62 hands, at the end of which Pollock emerged with the goods. Schwartz’s share of the prize-pool was $172.9k.
