The $1.5k PL Holdem event, (#12 of the
2013 WSOP) played down to its conclusion about 5 hours ago. The winner is Lev Rofman, who bested an initial starting field of 535 players to grab the bracelet and the $166.1k prize that came with it. Rofman’s run to the top was by no means smooth sailing: at the start of the final table, he was only 5th in chips, and he had to deal with none other than Allen Cunningham heads-up.
Nine players returned to the tables on the final day of the
poker tournament. Eric Crain was the chip leader at that point and he used his large stack to score the first elimination of the day, pushing short stack Jean Nicholas Fortin off the edge in 9th place. The player who followed Fortin to the rail was Tim Reilly, who bit the dust shortly after in 8th place. Reilly collected $16.9k for his efforts. This was the stage when Rofman began gaining some serious traction. He caught a more than welcome double-up taking some chips from Jaspal Brar, before moving in for the kill on Nicolas Halvorson, whom he eliminated in 7th place. Eric Crain, the start of the day chip leader, was the next victim: he picked up $28.8k for his 6th place, sent to the rail by Allen Cunningham.
Anthony Harb followed him to the sidelines in 5th place. After Kenneth Shelton was bounced in 4th, the time came for Jaspal Brar to put his tournament life onto the live as well: he was bounced by Cunningham who thus secured a handsome chip lead going into the heads-up stage. During heads-up play, Rofman caught two double-ups to turn the tables on his opponent and he eventually ended up with the gold.
