2013 WSOP Main Event – Day 6 in the Books

A couple of hours ago, the 6th day of the
2013 WSOP Main Event went into the books, leaving 27 players standing. The one who finished the day with the largest stack was Anton Morgenstern, who had 21.95 million chips bagged. Although he had played well all day long, the biggest boost to his stack came in the very last hand of the day, which saw him pick up a massive 5.45 million chips from George Wong at the end of a classic coin-flip. The two players got the chips into the middle preflop, with Morgenstern holding pocket 9s against Wong’s A,Jo. The board fell a set of deuces and some bricks and Morgenstern walked away with the goods.
Sami Rustom was the one who had the most chips at his disposal at the beginning of the day, but he squandered a great opportunity by beginning to bleed chips away and eventually busting out completely during the 3rd level of action.
He was bounced by Philip Long and he ended up in 39th place, picking up a $185.6k reward.
As the day drew closer to its end, even the last “name” players still in contention began hitting the rail. Byron Kaverman bit the dust in 34th, followed to the rail by Dan Owen in 32nd place. The last woman standing, Jackie Glazier, was eliminated in 31st place by Sergio Castellucio, who won another classic coin-flip when his pocket 10s bested Glazier’s As,Qs.
With the last woman gone, only 3 more players hit the rail before the end of the day. Danard Petit was the one bounced in 30th. Philip Long was bounced in 29th and the last victim of the day was George Wong, ushered out in 28th place by Morgenstern. Still in the running are Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Rep Porter, JC Tran and Carlos Mortensen.
