2013 WSOP – Tran Leads Event #58 after Day 3

The third day of the $1,111 Little One for One Drop (event #58 of the
2013 WSOP) saw 67 players return to its tables. The goal for the day was for the field to play down to the final table and that’s exactly what has been accomplished. When the hostilities stopped, only 8 players were left in contention, among them the chip leader, Nghi Tran, who finished the third day of action with a stack of 4.13 million chips.
The day got off to a quick start as notables began biting the dust almost as soon as the action kicked off: Bryn Kenney was one of the early victims of the day. He was soon joined on the rail by fellow notable Mike Sowers. Allyn Jeffrey Shulman and Joe Wilson didn’t fare much better either: they were eliminated shortly after as well.
Before they knew it, the field had played down to the final table bubble. The unenviable role of final table bubble-boy befell Gordon Huntly, whose elimination set up the official home stretch of the
poker tournament.
With the final table reached, there were plenty of short-stacks in the action and their antics were quite something to behold for all railbirds indeed. All-ins were frequent and short-stacks were getting away with crime hand after hand. Kevin O’Donell for instance pushed his short stack into the middle on the worst hand, against two opponents no less and he won.
With the clock ticking down towards the end of the day, the only player to meet the end of his tournament life at the final table was Adriano De Santa. Everyone else survived to come back and fight another day, but the eliminations are sure to start flowing as soon as the players return to the tables on Day 4.
