2014 PCA $25k High Roller – Jake Schindler Wins

The wildly popular $25k High Roller of the 2014 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure went into the books yesterday, after Jake Schindler defeated Greg Merson heads-up for the title and the $1.19 million top prize. Merson himself ended up with a pretty decent prize too: he scooped up $948.9k for his second place.
Vanessa Selbst, the reigning champion of the event, made a more then decent title-defense attempt too: she finished 3rd, picking up a $607.5k reward, racking up her third cash at this year’s
PCA.
The last day of the event started out with 14 players bellying up to the tables, looking to at least make the final table.
One of the first victims of the day was none other than PokerStars’ Daniel Negreanu, one of the two remaining
PokerStars pros at that stage (the other one being Selbst). Negreanu trusted his tournament life to a pair of Ks he’d picked up, but unfortunately for him, Greg Merson had picked up pocket rockets in the same hand. The rockets held and Negreanu was sent packing in 14th place.
The next player to bite the dust was Dan Smith. Smith put his tournament life onto the line with pocket 4s and he got called by Schindler, the eventual winner, who had pocket rockets. The rockets held again, and the field found itself another player shorter.
The final table bubble-boy was Brazil’s Myro Garcia, who got it all-in with an A,K against Vanessa Selbst’s pocket 10s for the classic coin-flip. The flip went the other way and Garcia was done as the field made its way into the home stretch.
Joao Vieira was the first victim of the final table: his 8th place was worth $157.9k.
Robert Mizrachi made his way into 5th place, picking up $389.7k for his efforts.
