2014 PCA Kicks Off on Sunday

The New Year has barely been rung in and the poker world is already looking ahead to its first major live event of 2014: the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. In fact, calling the PCA just a “major event” may be a bit of an understatement, since – after the WSOP – it is quite possibly the biggest live poker festival of the year.
This time around, the PCA is going to be kicked off in style, with the $100k Super High Roller, set to get going on Sunday. Already, droves of poker pros, looking to start 2014 on the right foot, are underway to the Atlantis Resort, once again the host of the Caribbean Adventure, and the press is already licking its paws in anticipation of some of the intriguing confrontations which are pretty much set to happen at the Super High Roller.
One such confrontation everyone is looking forward to is the one which may pit 2013 WSOP Main Event Ryan Riess against the reigning champion of the Super High Roller: Scott Seiver. There has been some animosity between the two players above and beyond healthy competition, since Seiver took offense to Riess’ claim that he (Riess) was the best poker player in the world.
Seiver won the Super High Roller last year, besting a starting field of 59 players and picking up the largest score of his career: a $2 million+ prize.
It isn’t yet clear if Seiver is going to mount a title defense this year or not, but Riess is definitely going, so if Seiver intends to get a hold of him at the green felt, the opportunity is indeed perfect for that.

Jason Mercier is one of the players who are definitely buying into this one, together with Player of the Decade Daniel Negreanu. Antonio Esfandiari, Jonathan Duhamel, Sorel Mizzi and Vanessa Selbst will all play too.
Sign up to PokerStars and win your way to PCA-like live events through their generous online qualifiers.
