2014 PCA Main Event – Day 4 Report

Even as the $25k High Roller was set to kick off, the Main Event of the 2014 PCA rolled on with its 4th day of action. At the end of the day, the one sitting with the largest stack was Estonia’s Madis Muur as the field had successfully played down to the final 20. Up until the final stages of the Day 4 action, the one leading the pack was Mike McDonald, but Muur shot to the top after he took a massive pot off Roger Teska. The chip leader had some 3.51 million chips bagged.
Unlike most of the other players who made the final stages of the
poker tournament, Muur is not a regular. In fact, this is his first
EPT season, but he’s no beginner either, since he has some $100k in tournament profits already.
Provided he makes it to 11th place at least in this one though, he is pretty much guaranteed to top all his previous accomplishments combined.
Mike McDonald made it to Day 5 too, and given that he’s the only remaining EPT champion, all the eyes of the press are upon him.
Others who made it to the top 20 are Pascal Lefrancois and Shyam Srinivasan, both of whom finished with large stacks.
Most of Lefrancois’ chips came from a pot he took off of Vladimir Schemelev, which saw his pocket Ks triumph and which resulted in the latter’s elimination.
Antoine Saout and Isaac Baron reached Day 5 too – on healthy stacks no less - together with Max Silver and Grayson Ramage.
Vanessa Selbst on the other hand, bit the dust, together with Marcel Luske, Liv Boeree and a number of other
PokerStars pros. Selbst, who had finished 3rd in the Super High Roller, ended up in 42nd place. She immediately bought into the $25k High Roller.
