2014 WSOP Main Event Day 2C – What to Watch for

The second day 2 flight of the
2014 WSOP’s Main Event is set to be a truly monumental affair, not just because no fewer than 2,571 players will return to the tables, all looking to make it to day 3, but also because that massive starting field will include some of poker’s biggest names.
Another interesting thing about Day 1C is that all 2,571 players set to belly up to the tables come from Day 1C, which featured by far the largest starting field of this year’s Big Dance, seeing 3,768 players at its tables.
One of the “name” players returning to action on Day 2C is Phil Ivey, and it’s needless to say that he will have all eyes on him. Considered the best poker player in the world by many an expert, Ivey is the proud possessor of no fewer than 10 WSOP bracelets, one of which came this year, in event #50, the $1.5k Eight-Game Mix one.

Over the years, Ivey has proved to be a constant top presence in the Main Events, in addition to his side-event heroics. In 2002 for instance, he finished 23rd. The following year, he made it all the way to 10th place. In 2005, he was back at the top, finishing 20th, while in 2009, he made his deepest run: he finished 7th, picking up a $1.4 million prize.
He starts Day 2C on a large stack of some 187k chips too, so everything does indeed seem set for him to make this yet another Main Event deep-run. The player who will start with the largest stack is Eric Tracy, who has some 206.1k chips at his disposal.
Other “name” players to see action on Day 2C are Jared Bleznick, Daniel Negreanu, Matt Matros and scores of others.
