2014 WSOP – Millionaire Maker Breaks Record

With the 2014 WSOP roaring on for just 4 days, records have already begun to fall. One such record fell in event #8, the $1.5k NL Holdem Millionaire Maker, which saw 7,977 players belly up to its tables. What sort of record did the event break? Just the one for the largest one-day field in the history of the WSOP and it even managed to nearly reel in the 2006 Main Event for the largest WSOP starting field ever. The small buy-in and the $1 million guaranteed top prize were obviously instrumental in drumming up thousands of players who stood in line for the chance to take part in the poker tournament.
Eventually, it looks like the winner’s share of the prize-pool will be $1.2 million rather than $1 million.

The player who finished Day 1 with the largest stack was Andrew Seidman, who ended up with 137k chips in his stack.
Other notables who advanced to day 2 were Joe Cada (with only 20.1k chips to his name though), Amit Makhija, Mohsin Charania, Dan Kelly and Jake Cody.

Talking about falling records: Phil Helmuth, the Poker Brat, has made his 50th final table and he is now looking to take down his 14th WSOP bracelet. Although most of his accomplishments thus far have come from NL Holdem, Hellmuth’s current WSOP bracelet bid is happening in event #7, the $1.5k Seven-Card Razz one. The development is perhaps not surprising in light of an interview Hellmuth gave about a month ago in which he said he expected to win more bracelets in mixed event for the remainder of his career.
Some of the other players who made the final table of event #7 were Greg Pappas, Ted Forrest and Brandon Cantu.
