2014 WSOP - Phil Hellmuth Looking for the Gold Again

Phil Hellmuth, the current world record-holder with 13 WSOP bracelets to his name, appears to be riding a hot streak at this year’s Series. In event #7, the $1.5k 7-Card Razz one, which took place earlier this week, he made it all the way to the heads-up stage of the
poker tournament, eventually falling to Ted Forrest. The close call and the heartbreaking denial at the end of it did little to douse his enthusiasm though, and sure enough, he has now maneuvered himself into position for yet another run for bracelet #14.
The second day of event #15, the $3k Six-handed
NL Holdem one, saw him advance to the final 15, which – for a player of his caliber – is like having a foot in the doorway to the title. Although he’ll only be in the middle of the pack come the final day of the event, if anyone can turn this one into yet another historical win, he is the one.

The beginning of the second day of action in event #15 saw 144 players from an original starting field of 810 return to the tables. It took 10 hours for the final 15 to be reached, but eventually, Heinz Kamutzki grabbed the chip lead, with 841k chips to his name.
While Hellmuth is indeed decently positioned within the top 15, he will have to work his way through a rather impressive field of survivors to reach the top of the pops: Davidi Kitai is there, with 815k chips, as is Pratyush Buddiga, Ryan Olisar and Vladimir Geshkenbein.
The one who started day 2 with the largest stack was Brandon Cantu, but he was bounced by none other than Hellmuth towards the end of the day.
