2014 WSOP Schedule Released

It’s never too early to start preparing for the big one, and poker players can now draw up plans knowing exactly what to expect come this summer: the official schedule of the 2014 WSOP has been made public this Tuesday. The Series will kick off on May 27, at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, and it will offer players no fewer than 65 opportunities to secure one of the coveted pieces of WSOP jewelry. The peak of the series will be marked by the start of the Main Event, the first day 1 flight of which is scheduled to get going on July 5. The Main Event will apparently feature a guaranteed prize of $10 million for the eventual winner. The addition of the guarantee is indeed an interesting twist. The largest ever WSOP Main Event prize ended up in Jamie Gold’s possession in 2006, and it tipped the scales at $12 million. Due to legal adversity, none of the subsequent main events managed to reach the $10 million mark as far as the winner’s share is concerned, since. Last year’s edition was particularly disappointing in this respect: Ryan Riess “only” picked up $8.3 million.
As far as the format of the Main Event is concerned: the November Nine will be back apparently.

The first event of the 2014 Series will be the traditional $500 Casino Employees one, but on May 27, the $25k Mixed-Max Event will also kick off.
This year, there will apparently be a whole bunch of $10k Championship events re-introduced, and most interestingly, the $1 million Big One for One Drop event will be back as well.
The last edition of the Big One was in 2012, when Antonio Esfandiari won some $18 million. This year, word is that there will be more buy-ins, so the winner’s reward will probably exceed $20 million.
