2015 PCA – Day 3 Report

The 3rd day of the
PokerStars Caribbean Adventure’s 2015 Main Event saw 175 players return to the tables - among them scores of “name” pros and PokerStars representatives. The main goal for the day was of course the reaching of the money-bubble. Set for 119th place, the bubble burst relatively early in the day and the action continued on, as Juan Etcheverry ended up with the largest stack when all was said and done. Etcheverry had some 1.7 million chips in his stack. Day 3 saw more “name” pros finish in the top 10, among them Chance Kornuth, whose stack of 1.16 million chips was enough for second place.
Third-place finisher Kevin Schulz had just as many chips bagged.
Other notables who made the top 10 were Jim Collopy (5th place, with 889k chips to his name) and Rami Boukai (9th place, with 625k chips). Juan Martin Pastor, one of the previous day’s front-runners, finished 4th, with 930k chips.

As the money bubble approached, the action heated up. Connor Drinnan got his tournament life onto the line first during this stage, with an As, Qs. Chance Kornuth called him with pocket Qs though, scoring the elimination. The one to burst the money-bubble was Arne Kern, who pushed all-in on an A,Ko. Ambrose Ng called, with pocket 10s, and then proceeded to hit a set on the river when another 10 fell.
The chip leader shot to the top late in the day, when he made a nut flush against Mario Puccini, doubling right up. JC Alvarado,Jason Mercier and Jonathan Duhamel all finished the day with healthy stacks.
