2015 WSOP - Day 39 Report

Day 39 of the 2015 WSOP saw two bracelets handed out, right before the first Day 1 flight of the Main Event kicked off. The first of the two bracelets landed in possession of Jack Duong, the winner of the $1.5k NL Holdem Bounty. Duong had already more or less secured the bracelet the previous night, but down to the heads-up stage, he could not deliver the coup de grace to Vitezslav Pesta. The two players returned on Saturday, as Duong, whose stack towered some 15.38 million chips high, was looking to complete a mere formality, taking Pesta's last 965k chips away. Pesta wasn't shy to push all-in and he managed to double up, before - about 14 hands later - he was sent packing for good.
The last hand of the tournament saw Duong's pocket Ks triumph over Pesta's pocket Js. The winner's share of the prize-pool was $333.3k.

The other bracelet found its way to Anthony Spinella in quite an unprecedented fashion: he won the first ever online event of the WSOP, the $1k WSOP.com Online NL Holdem tournament, taking down a $197.7k prize to go with his bling. Spinella - who is known for his online poker exploits - fittingly won his first bracelet in the online event.
Being an
online poker professional, Spinella suffered greatly in the wake of poker's Black Friday. His livelihood suddenly gone, he found himself looking for a place abroad from where he could play and unlike some of his peers, he ran into plenty of trouble in this process. Eventually, he settled in Playa Del Carmen in Mexico though and now it's safe to say that his career has indeed come full circle.
