2015 WSOP: Jason Mercier Takes Down 3rd Bracelet

At this point, it is safe to say that PokerStars pro Jason Mercier's WSOP has been quite an up and down affair thus far: on Wednesday, he was having what may well be described as one of the worst days of his poker career. A few hours later, he was holding on to his 3rd WSOP bracelet, smiling and posing for the cameras with the cards that won him the final hand of the event.
His 3rd bracelet win came in event #32, the $5k NL Holdem 6-handed tournament. Besides the jewelry, he also took home $633.3k - not a bad haul in itself. The tournament - which featured a rather steep buy-in indeed - saw 550 players belly up to its tables when it kicked off. The resulting prize-pool was more than $2.5 million big. The last day of action (day 3) saw some 20 players return, among them "name" pros like Tuan Le, Jennifer Tilly and Nacho Barbero. None of the above said players made the final table though.

Obviously though, the final table was just as heavy on pros as the event as a whole. James Obst was the first victim of the final stretch of the tournament: he picked up $78.4k for his 6th place finish. He was followed to the rail by Igor Dubinsky of Ukraine and Dario Sammartino. Sammartino, an EPT regular, picked up $163.6k for his 4th place. The elimination of Mike Gorodinsky in 3rd place set up the heads-up stage of the event between Simon Deadman and Jason Mercier. Deadman eventually ended up with the share of the runner-up which tipped the scale at $391.4k.
