The third day of the 2014
World Series of Poker Europe Main Event went into the books the other day and Kevin MacPhee managed to clinch the chip lead as the field played down to the final 21. On the same day, the €25.6k High Roller got underway as well. Day 3 of the tournament was an important one indeed, because it would see the field play past the money-bubble. Indeed, at the beginning of the day, 65 players returned to the tables, but more than 30 of them would still go home empty-handed, despite making it this far in the competition.
The player who started off with the largest stack on Day 3 was Dzmitry Urbanovich, who was among the 21 survivors in the end, although his 414k chips were a far cry from what he would've needed to still be on top: MacPhee had some 1.15 million chips bagged.

The field came rife with big names and even after 3 days of action took their massive toll, there were many such players left in contention. Joining MacPhee on Day 4 will be Andrew Lichtenberger, Dimitar Danchev, JC Alvarado, Ola Amundsgard and Dominik Nitsche. Everyone who is still alive has already secured a €23.5k payday. The stakes are still high though: in addition to the gold jewelry, the eventual winner will also pocket a €883k prize.
MacPhee's lead is a rather comfortable one at this point: second-place man Johannes Becker of Germany only had some 894k chips bagged. Erik Seidel made the top 5 too: he finished with some 665k chips to his name. Lichtenberger ended up 3rd with 718k.
