5 World Series of Poker Musts

When poker players get to Vegas in the summer, it often feels a little like how the kids that got the golden wrappers must have felt when they got to the chocolate factory. With the exception of Charlie, the chocolate factory turned out not to be so good for the kids, and we want to help poker players avoid the same fate. With this in mind, here are a few tips for how to make the most out of the WSOP and Vegas this summer, and to come out the other end in one piece:
1. Make a Plan: The first thing you must do is figure out your budget; be honest, and be realistic. Once you know what you can spend, have a look at the schedule, including the satellite schedule, and pick the tournaments that can maximise your budget best.
2. Don't get stressed: remember that this is supposed to be fun, and if you're not having fun, you're doing something wrong. Always keep things in perspective, and don't get stressed out about any losses.
3. Take a walk every day: this is not to be sneezed at. Despite the heat, it is very important to see at least half an hour of sunlight every day. Therefore make a point of leaving the casino or hotel during daylight hours (just after dawn or before dusk is best) at least once every day and make sure to take strolls in the evenings that you're not playing on.
4. Take advantage of Vegas: yes it's the World Series of Poker, but there are loads of other things going on too, so check them out.
5. Eat and sleep well: taking care of your body is tantamount to taking care of your play – if you don't feel good you won't play good, so eat well and make sure you get enough sleep.
