5 WSOP Bracelets Up for Grabs Down Under

The
WSOP has always been a solid brand, one that has successfully weathered the post UIGEA storm which put many online and live poker operations square out of business. With that in mind it is at least a little surprising that for 5 years, the World Series of Poker didn’t expand in any way. That dry spell is now over however: from April 4 to April 15, 2013, Melbourne’s already famous Crown Casino will become the center of the WSOP universe.
The WSOP APAC will feature 7 events, of which no fewer than 5 will award bracelets to their respective winners.
Obviously, those most delighted about the WSOP APAC will be Australian and Asian poker players, who will be able to do battle for the much-coveted gold jewelry without having to travel half a world away.
Event #1 of the WSOP APAC is the $1.1k
NL Holdem Accumulator event, which is expected to be truly huge indeed. Featuring the lowest buy-in of the mini-series and offering a WSOP bracelet, the event is pretty much guaranteed to draw a massive starting field.
Event #2, the $1,650 PLO one is also one featuring a relatively low buy-in and a rather popular poker variant. There’s a WSOP bracelet on the table in this event as well.
Event #3 is a $2.2k Mixed Event, which will probably be a tad more selective starting-field wise on account of the more complex nature of the game played. Events #4 and #5 are the other two bracelet events, but these feature larger buy-ins at $5k and $10k.
Another event to watch will be the $50k High Roller, which does not offer a bracelet, but which does cater for the generously bankrolled crowd. The invitation-only Caesars Cup will wrap up the series.
