888Poker to Launch Mac Software

888Poker are looking to expand their player base to include players who use non-Windows platforms as well. They have set up the beta-testing phase of a downloadable, real-money client destined for Mac users, and indeed, the testing is already underway. They have also decided to tweak their mobile software.
Mac users have been able to play at
888Poker for years now, but they’ve had to settle for a browser-based instant-play solution, which was obviously much shorter on special features than the downloadable PC version.
The new downloadable Mac software will have all the extra feature-perks offered by 888Poker’s full client, like multi-tabling and hand histories.
Even after the official release of the new Mac software, the instant play feature will remain available for those looking for quick access to the tables.
In addition to the above said Mac moves, 888Poker have unveiled a new mobile client as well, which finally allows real money action. Players can now play
NL Holdem cash games from $0.01/$0.02 to $3/$6. SNGs are available as well, and after the latest tweaks, MTTs can be played too. MTTs are available for iPhone and Android users – who make up the majority of the mobile market.
The above said moves aren’t exactly surprising from the world’s 4th largest
online poker network. It does indeed make perfect sense for 888Poker to get more aggressive: they currently have about 2,000 real money cash game players at their tables during peak hours and some 350 more in their Spanish room, numbers which aren’t particularly impressive.
Of course, the operation hopes to expand into the US market, possibly later this year, a move which indeed may turn out to be a major game-changer traffic-wise.
888Poker has teamed up with Caesars Interactive Entertainment and several other licensed operators in Nevada and it is set to have its platform launched in New Jersey and Delaware as well.
