A Second Look at the 2013 WSOP November Nine – Part 9

Seat #7 of the 2013 November Nine belongs to JC Tran, quite possibly the most accomplished player at the final table. The 36-year old has tasted
WSOP victory 2 times already. His first bracelet came in 2008, in Event #49 of that year’s Series, a $1.5k
NL Holdem event, which landed him a $631.1k reward. In 2009, he secured his second WSOP gold in the $2.5k PLO event, #30 of that edition of the Series, earning a $235.6k reward. If one is to count all his WSOP accomplishments, his 2004/2005 WSOP circuit win has to be added to the tally as well. He won a $1.5k NL Holdem event of the Rio Las Vegas stop, pocketing a prize of $97.4k.
The WSOP and the WSOP-C weren’t his only roaming grounds though. As a matter of fact, the peak of his poker career was reached in the WPT, where he took down several hauls so big that he may not even be able to equal them at the WSOP in November either.
In 2007, he finished second in the LA Poker Classic Main Event, picking up a $1.17 million prize, the biggest single haul of his career to this day. Only a month later, he tasted victory in the $5k World Poker Challenge in Reno, taking home the $683.4k prize. That same year, he won a $5k NL Holdem event of the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic, taking home $523k.
Like some of his November Nine peers/opponents, Tran is also known for his
online poker exploits. His online poker career culminated in his 2006 winning of
PokerStars’ WCOOP Main Event, which landed him a $670.1k prize.
Tran was extremely active on Day 7 of the Main Event, personally disposing of Fabian Ortiz, Matthew Reed and Carlos Mortensen.
