Poker points races (also known as rake races) carry excellent value for players, because they reward them for something that they do at the table regardless of whether or not they take part in a promotion: they pay rake. The $65k points race is such a promotion. It may be called a points race, but – since those points are awarded in a directly proportional manner with the rake generated by players through real money play – one may as well call it a rake race. How does one collect a share of the $65k prize-pool? All there is to do is to play in as many real money cash games as possible. Poker points can be earned through tournament play as well, but cash games produce these points at a faster rate.

The leaderboard is tracked through the month, and frozen at the end of it. The player who is in 1st place at that time can count himself $10k richer.

While points can be earned in various ways, the peculiarity of the Americas Cardroom deal is that players can pick up more points by playing in the major tournaments run by the site.
