After a marathon of a final day, the Main Event of the
EPT’s Monte Carlo stop, the final one of the season, came to an end. It took the field 18 hours and more than 300 hands to play down to a winner, but in the end, Antonio Buonanno, the only player at the final table who didn’t earn his seat online, walked away with the trophy and the €1.24 million top prize. Buonanno defeated Jack Salter heads-up. Salter’s share of the prize-pool was €765k.
Malte Moennig ended up in third place, taking home €547k or his efforts. Mayu Roca made a deep run as well: he finished 4th, for a €419k prize.

Jack Salter had the chip lead when the final table action kicked off. He and Bounanno locked horns early though, which resulted in Salter losing the lead to Mayu Roca. Buonanno was second in chips at this stage.
Salter then managed to actually score the first knockout of the final table, sending Sebastian Bredthauer packing in 8th place, €128.8k in his pocket.
Kenny Hicks was the next one to bow out of the game. His share of the prize-pool was €188.5k.
Sebastian von Toperczer followed Hicks to the rail. He picked up €258.3k for his efforts.
It was following Toperczer’s elimination that Buonanno turned on the pressure. He first got Magnus Karlsson into his crosshairs, and he promptly crippled him. Karlsson became the next casualty of the final table, eliminated in 5th place, with €332k to his name.
Following the break, Mayu Roca was sent packing as well, his 4th place finish rewarded with €419k.
Following Moennig’s elimination in 3rd place, the heads-up stage of the poker tournament between Buonanno and Salter was set up. The final hand of the event saw Buonanno’s A,4o best Salter’s Kd, 7d.
