ANZPT Perth Main Event – Day 2 Report

The second day of the ANZPT’s Perth Main Event saw 145 players return to the tables, looking for a Day 3 ticket. By the time the green felt hostilities were called, only 48 were left standing, which means that Day 3 will kick off under the mark of the money-bubble, which is now 21 places away. Local player Sal Fazzino was the one who finished Day 2 sitting behind the largest stack. He had some 258.2k chips bagged. He was followed by Patrick Mahoney, whose 255k chips were enough to grant him second place. Luke Span finished with a large stack as well: he ended up bagging 220.7k chips.
The notables were numerous at the tables when the action kicked off, but their ranks got seriously thinned by the time the later stages of the day were reached. Patrick Crivell, Jessie McKenzie, and Minh Nguyen were all among the starters, together with

Local player Oliver Gill had a very healthy stack at the beginning of the day and he put it to good use as soon as the action got going. Later though, he fell victim to a major meltdown and he ended up dropping all his chips within a single orbit, hitting the rail.
Gill’s final hand was something of a perfect hand. He picked up a suited one-gapper before the flop, an excellent implied odds hand, the 7d, 5d, but the situation was obviously not right at all for implied odds play. He got there though on the flop, which fell all diamonds, giving him a flush. He obviously got all his chips into the middle, only to be called by Stev Lackovic, who had an Ad, Kd for the nut flush and the win.
