APPT Macau: Asia Championship of Poker – Xing Zhou Wins

It took the initial 184-player starting field 5 days to play down to a winner in the APPT Macau’s Asia Championship of Poker. On the last day of the poker tournament, 9 players showed up for the final table. Jacques Zaicik started the day as the short-stack, and forced to commit, he did so, doubling up on the second hand of the day. Shortly afterwards, a hand developed which would have a tremendous effect on how the action would later unfold. This hand saw Zhou double up against start of the day chip leader Michael Kannan, taking the chip lead.
The first player to bite the dust was Henry Wang. Wang dropped a major pot to Alan Sass and soon he was forced to put his tournament life onto the line as well. He got his last chips into the middle on a Q,4o and Andrew Hinrichsen called him with an Ah,10h.
Zhou was the protagonist of the next major pot too, which saw him take a bunch of chips from Tsugunari Toma.
Tom Alner bit the dust in 8th place, taking down HKD$606.6k for his efforts. Only a few hands after his elimination, Andrew Hinrichsen was sent to the rail as well. Having dropped the above said massive pot to Zhou, Toma wasn’t able to hold on for much longer either: he bowed out in 6th place.

Sass got into a classic coin-flip situation against Zhou next, and his pocket Qs were felled by the latter’s A,K.
Zaicik followed him to the rail in 4th place, sent there courtesy of Zhou. Next, it was Michael Kannan’s turn to bite the dust. His elimination left Zhou heads-up against Ying Kit Chan. The final hand of the event saw Zhou’s 10,6o beat Chan’s 7,5o.
