16 players returned to the tables on the third and final day of the APPT’s Seoul Main Event, bent on playing right down to a winner. It took them about 3 hours to play down to nine, thus setting the official final table.
Kenneth Wong was the first one who bit the dust at the final table: he picked up a pair of 9s and he immediately staked his tournament life on them. Vincent Rubianes made the call with an Ah, Qh and proceeded to hit two more Qs on the board for the trip.
Daisuke Endo had started the 3rd day with the largest stack, but by the time 8-handed play was reached, his dominance was but a distant memory. The board read 10c, 5c, 4s when Endo got his last chips into the middle, holding a Js, 3c. Moritz Ortmann was all-in too, with an Ac, Jc for the 4-card flush. The Ad fell on the turn, followed by the 7c on the river and the 7-handed stage of the
poker tournament was reached. Endo was followed to the rail by Taewook Kwon. Soon after, Jose Severino was eliminated too, in 6th place. Ortmann was the one responsible for Severino’s elimination too. The German’s Ah, Kh made short work of Severino’s A,Qo.
Sasa Zorc was bounced in 5th place and with his elimination, the tournament had reached a major mile-stone: the last 4 players – Ortmann, Kim, Vincent Rubianes and Rafael Rodrigo made a deal. In the melee that ensured in the wake of the said deal, Ortmann found the rail first. He was followed to the sidelines by Rodrigo, whose elimination set up the heads-up stage of the event.
Kim had a pretty decent edge over his opponent heads-up and he made full use of his advantage. He kept chipping away at his opponent’s stack, right until the final hand which saw his A,K go up against Rubianes’ pocket 10s. An A hit the flop and the APPT’s Seoul Main Event was in the books.
