APT Looking to Set World Record with Longest Ever Tournament

The poker and the online poker world is a highly competitive one perpetually set to break new ground. Indeed, it looks like everyone with a bankroll out there is out to set a record of some sort these days and the same pretty much goes for
poker tournament organizers/officials, who are always searching for the next unique selling point to entice more and more players to their tables and into their casinos.
On August 25, 2012, the longest ever poker tournament was played in Delaware, known as the Delaware Park Iron Man Poker Challenge.
The event drew a starting field of 192 players, and it took 36 hours, 34 minutes and 11 seconds to play down to a winner. The player who walked away with the goods from this one was Pete Konas, who pocketed $27.1k for his marathon efforts.
The reason why this Delaware event has been tugged out into the spotlight again is that the APT will attempt to beat the record set by it, on December 11-15, through the Asian Poker Tour Resorts World Manila Iron Man Poker Challenge. If the length of its name is any indication, the tournament will indeed handily beat the above said record, as organizers are doubtlessly hoping it will.
Taking place in the capital of the Philippines, Manila, the event will feature a $700 buy-in. It also comes with a set of special rules, meant to make sure that the tournament does indeed achieve its objectives.
The event will play down to a champion, who will take home his full share of the prize-pool, because deals and chops will be forbidden. There will be no scheduled breaks whatsoever, but people will be allowed to leave their tables whenever they want to and for as long as they want to.
