Aussie Millions $100k Challenge - Richard Yong Wins

Phil Ivey may have busted out of the 2015 Aussie Millions' $100k Challenge much earlier than he intended/wanted to, but the same definitely cannot be said about his friend, Richard Yong, who went all the way, picking up the title and the AU$ 1.87 million that came with it. Yong's victory was all the sweeter considering the player he defeated heads-up: none other than Ole Schemion, one of the GPI's front-runners. The final table of the
poker tournament was all rife with high profile competitors though, featuring a field in which Schemion - who picked up AU$ 1.35 million for his second place - was just another name. Scott Seiver finished 3rd for AU$1 million, followed by Justin Bonomo in 4th, with AU$800k. Jason Mo and Erik Seidel followed, as Dani Stern and Alex Trevallion wrapped up the final 8.

The final table of the tournament reconvened after a few days off, looking to finally determine the winner. Ole Schemion started the day with the largest stack. The short-stack - end thus quite unsurprisingly the first one to bite the dust - was Trevallion. Dani Stern put his tournament life onto the line next, on a perfectly legitimate Ad, Kd, only to be called by Yong with a 9d, 7d, which proceeded to make a pair on the river for the upset.
The heads-up stage of the event was a spectacular back-and-forth between Yong and Schemion. The last hand saw Yong's Jd,10d triumph over Schemion's 9,8o, after neither player managed to hit anything on the board. The win was arguably the biggest one of Yong's poker career.
