Aussie Millions Main Event Day 3 report

81 Day 2 survivors squared off on Day 3 of the Aussie Millions Main Event with Annica Ivert in the chip lead followed by Annette Obrestad in second on the provisional leader board. Scotty Nguyen, Joe Hachem, Raymond Rahme and Patrik Antonius were also around. At the end of the day, after several players clinched it at one point or another during the day, the chip lead went to Martin Tureniec who got up from the table in possession of a 1,072,000 stack.

The money bubble was only 17 eliminations away at the beginning of the day, Joe Hachem still managed to head to the rail before it was reached. Hachem shoved all in on a pair of Qs only to get a call from Leonid Cai with A,8 of hearts. As it usually happens in such situations, the flop brought along an A cracking Hachem’s pocket Qs wide open. The turn did give him a flush draw and some hope to come from behind and take down the pot but it just wasn’t meant to be.

Will Zemljaric became the unluckiest player in the event as he busted out right on the bubble. Jarred Solomon, who went on to finish 3rd in the Aussie Millions Heads-up event later, finished in the money in the Main Event too. He busted out in 63rd place followed by Antonis Kambouris and Nali Kaselias shortly.

Scotty Nguyen trapped Sam Capra while holding a pair of Ks and got him all-in with the latter only having a K,4 for the bottom pair on the flop. Lady Luck wouldn’t allow Scotty to hammer his edge home though as she gave Capra a third 4 on the river to send Scotty packing in 50th place.
Patrik Antonius left the tournament 41st place sent to the rail by Richard Ashby.
After he had gotten lucky against Scotty Nguyen, Sam Capra also disposed of Clonie Gowen to swell his chip-stack to a top-10 worthy size.
Michael Tureniec finished the day in 1st place having built up a huge stack at the expense of Leonid Cai whom he had eliminated in 29th.
Christian Heich finished second on the leader board with 880,000 chips.
