Australia – The New Poker Destination

Australia has been a premier poker and
online poker destination for quite a few years now. Melbourne's famous Crown Casino, the host of many a high profile live
poker tournament series has become the scene of the first ever WSOP held outside the US and Europe. Thus far the Series has been a resounding success, and the fact that poker and online poker legend Phil Ivey managed to win event #3, thus grabbing his ninth WSOP bracelet, certainly helped. The Main Event has already kicked off and it has become obvious from its get-go that there was indeed quite a bit of potential in World Series of Poker events Down Under. The Main Event drew a starting field larger than that of the first ever
WSOP Europe Main Event, quite the telltale clue indeed.
Australia does indeed have a lot going for it in regards to poker and online poker. The country features a relaxed legal environment in regards to online poker and it is situated in an early time zone for tournament action. Many of the international poker players converged on the Crown Casino for the WSOP APAC have expressed pleasure with the schedule which allowed them to play in a bracelet events while duking it out online as well, not missing any of the weekend majors.
Fresh WSOP APAC bracelet winners Jim Collopy and Brian Piccioli have praised Australia for being a place which allows them to win tons of money online as well as at the live tables, while allowing them to hit the surf on a daily basis too.
Chris Moorman for instance, one of the highest profile UK-based online poker professionals, moved to New Zealand once with the specific goal to take advantage of the time zone. Even Phil Ivey has said that the Crown Casino was his favorite place to play poker.
