Battles at the Beach Main Event – Stephen Bokor Wins

The Isla Casino Pompano Park in Pompano Beach, Florida played host to the $3.3k Main Event of the 2013 edition of the Battles at the Beach. The winner of the poker tournament was Stephen Bokor. Bokor walked away with a $155.4k prize, after he defeated Jose Parra heads-up. The event drew an initial starting field of 163 players over its two day 1 flights. Harold Klein and Barry Hutter emerged with the chip lead from Day 1A and Day 1B respectively. Their accomplishment carried a bigger than usual significance, since it earned them both a $10k prize on the side.
A total of 67 players returned on Day 2, with the goal of playing down past the money bubble. That goal was indeed accomplished and at the end of the day, 13 players remained.
Day 3 would be the last one of the tournament. Danny Shiff was one of the notables who made it to the start of the day, but his final table bid would fall short: he busted in 13th place, picking up a 6.5k reward for his efforts. John Dolan had busted out much earlier, biting the dust in 18th place and heading to the payout booth to pick up a $5.7k prize.

Maurice Hawkins fell shortly after Shiff’s elimination. He finished 11th, picking up a $7.77k prize. Perry Gammon was the one who followed him to the rail in 10th place. Gammon’s elimination marked the setting of the official 9-handed final table.
One of the last remaining notables, Matt Waxman, made it all the way to 5th place. Waxman picked up a handsome $31.3k for his efforts. Tony Ruberto finished 4th, for a $40.6k prize. The winner, Bokor, was the only player to finish in 6 figures.
