Big Event Main Event – Victor Ramdin wins

The Big Event’s Main Event featured a starting field of 417, of which only 8 returned to the tables of the Bicycle Casino on the last day of action. All 8 of these players had their eyes on the prize going into the day, but in the end it was Victor Ramdin who claimed the $500k top prize. Though the final table lineup was indeed an extremely competitive one, there were only two truly well-known players in it: Ramdin and Joe Hachem.
As the action got rolling, some players found themselves under immediate pressure to chip up. The first elimination, that of Santiago Nadal, was thus a rather early one. His final hand was as classic as it gets: he picked up pocket Js and shoved all-in, only to be called by Ramdin who had A,K. The flop fell 6,10,2, preserving Nadal’s advantage, but the A on the turn turned things around for good. The 7d on the river did nothing for Nadal and he was bounced.
Jose de Noronha was the next one to fall. His pocket 7s were outrun by Joe Hachem’s K,J on the flop. Hachem then proceeded to bounce Taylor Von Kriegenbergh. Hachem’s A,Q was ahead before the flop against Von Kriegenbergh’s K,10 and an A on the flop sealed the deal for good.

In the wake of Von Kriegenbergh’s elimination, Hachem gathered enough momentum to steamroll another player out of the poker tournament. Jeremy Ausmus, who at one point led the field – was the one to leave the event in 3rd place. In his final hand, Ausmus had J,9 on a flop of 5,J,K. Little did he know that Hachem had K,7 which gave him the edge. Nothing changed on the turn and the river and the heads-up stage was set.

Hachem had the chip lead when 2-handed play began. After about 90 minutes of heads-up action though, Ramdin’s A,J triumphed over his A,K to decide the winner.
