With all the online action, the
EPT and the Aussie Millions on the table, we paid little attention to the Borgata Winter open which is also in full swing in Atlantic City. The event is a truly large scale one nonetheless as no fewer than 539 players made it back to the green felt on its second day of action.
After a day’s worth of heated poker action, 167 players earned the right to have their chips bagged for Day 3.
The chip leader at the end of the day was Roz Quarto, a regular at the Borgata, who managed to build a stack of 450k chips.
The Edison based attorney, who had made no fewer than 9 final tables in various live poker events, came into the second day of action on a stack of 61k chips. She took full advantage of the opportunities offered by her above-average stack and shot to the top busting people left and right, two at a time when needed.
With Lady Luck firmly by her side, she took down a huge pot early in the day. She made a Q-high flush against two opponents who had sets. Everyone put their chips into the middle and the 150k chip pot ended up in Quarto’s possession.
After the early chip-up, Quarto continued to play well as she kept adding to her stack all the way to the final whistle.
Vanessa Selbst had an excellent day as well. She managed to amass around 300k chips to finish in the top 10. Other players near the top of the chip leader board were Jack Schanbacher, Josh Brikis and Mike Leah. Brikis added a few scalps to his belt through day 2 as well, the most notorious victim of his being Robert Varkonyi.
Other notables to survive to day 3 were Gavin Smith and Brian Lemke.
