Borgata Winter Poker Open – Day 11 Report

The 11th day of the Borgata Winter Poker Open saw two poker tournaments play down to their respective winners: the $1.6k Heads-Up NL Holdem tournament (#14 of the Series) and the $500 Deep Stack PLO one (#16).
Event #15 saw action in-between too. Offering a guarantee of $200k, the 6-Max NL Holdem re-entry event played through its first day of action.
Event #15 saw a bunch of high profile players belly up to the tables, many of them playing in their first Borgata Winter Poker Open event. The reason behind all the said pros showing up was obviously the $3.5k Borgata Winter Poker Open Championship event, which kicked off on Sunday.

64 players bellied up to the tables of event #14, and when everything had been said and done, Brian Hewitt emerged with the largest stack. Reaching the top was by no means a walk in the park in this one. Christian Harder played in the poker tournament, together with other notables like Matt Matros, Aaron Massey and John Racener. 8 players were left standing for the last day of the event. The one Hewitt locked up with first was James Routos. He made short work of his opponent as Joseph Stiers bested Torrey Korsog, Ernie Lewis disposed of Adam Shulman and Steve Sarmiento bested Matt Stout.
Hewitt then defeated Sarmiento and Stiers to clinch the title and the $37.2k top prize.
Event #16 was a one-day affair, and it saw some 98 players belly up to its tables. Dan Corrar was the one who walked away with the goods in the end, not before reaching a 4-way agreement with the other top finishers.
Jim Newton was the player who fell in 5th place, leaving the remaining 4 to wheel and deal their way around, distributing the $32k prize-money left in the middle at that stage the way they saw fit.
