On Saturday, the 12th day of the Borgata Winter Poker open rolled on, seeing no fewer than three side events play down to their respective winners. Of the three
poker tournaments, event #15, the NL Holdem 6-max Re-buy one (featuring a $200k guarantee) garnered the most attention, given how it was used by a number of high-profile pros as a warm-up event for the upcoming championship event of the Series.
Following its first day of action, event #15 saw 43 players return to the tables on its second day. Originally, some 373 players had bellied up to the tables of this one.
With the money bubble set for 36th place, the first objective of the day was obviously the bursting of the bubble. The one who scored the elimination which burst the bubble was Amanda Musumeci.
Past the bubble, the action sped up, claiming the tournament lives of numerous pros, among them Amanda Musumeci’s as well.
The final table bubble-boy was Robert Portas. Byron Kaverman made the final table, finishing in 4th place.
The player that the eventual winner, Matt Affleck, disposed of heads-up was Josh Brikis. Brikis picked up $54.2k for his efforts, while the share of the winner was $88.6k.
Event #17, a Big Stack
NL Holdem tournament, offering a $100k guarantee, was won by Joseph Galazzo. Galazzo picked up $57.4k for his efforts. The one he edged out for the title and the top prize was Stephen Press. Press’ share of the reward was $33.4k.
The third event which played down to its winner on Day 12 was the $560 Omaha Eight or Better Semi-Turbo. The resulting prize-pool in this tournament was $41.2k, and the winner’s share turned out to be $14.4k. The one who walked away with that money and the title was Johannes Mueller, who bested Dave Brady heads-up.
