Borgata Winter Poker Open – Day 2 Report

Event #1 of the Borgata Winter Poker Open continued with its second and third day 1 flights on Wednesday. The player who finished the day with the largest stack was Christian Lusardi, who had 519k chips bagged. Lusardi picked up a $2k reward for having won his flight and for the fact that he was the one who finished day 1 of the event with the lead.
Although he is not new to the live poker scene, Lusardi can’t boast particularly impressive results just yet: he has some $30k in lifetime poker tournament profits. Even though all the Day 1 flights are indeed already complete, due to the confusion which arose from the combined Day 1B and Day 1C and the re-buys which were still allowed, the organizers were unable to determine the exact number of buy-ins/participants and the size of the prize-pool.

What is known though is that – even though he had bitten the dust on Day 1A – actor James Woods finished among the large stacks. He ended up with 410.5k chips to his name. Woods managed to get going early in the day, when he got involved in a 4-way all-in, which he won. Later on, he got involved in a perfect hand situation, which saw him make a bigger boat than an opponent, and he obviously ended up scooping up that guy’s entire stack too.
Johnny Lam was another player who finished with a large stack, as was Joe Nelligan and Luis Vazquez.

Not everyone had it going that well though. Matt Stout was among those sent packing, together with Andy Hwang, Victor Ramdin and Todd Terry. Together with the crowds and the general helter-skelter came some drama too, which culminated in a bit of a shouting match between two players that eventually had to be settled by the tournament officials.
