Borgata Winter Poker Open – Day 5 Report

The Borgata Winter Poker open has thus far been dominated by event #1, the $2 million opener of the series, which was cancelled on Friday due to chip fraud. Even though the cancellation of the event was definitely a hard blow to absorb, the series continued with the other events. Three of these events managed to play down to their respective winners, so the Borgata Winter Poker Open can finally boast an actual winner or two leaving its tables.
Event #3 was one of the poker tournaments which wrapped up according to plan. The winner of this event, which was a $560 Deep Stack NL Holdem Re-entry affair, was Joe Mckeehen, who was rewarded with a $69.8k prize for his efforts. The player Mckeehen bested heads-up for the title was Dimitrious Goranitis. The final hand of the tournament saw Mckeehen’s A,Ko best Goranitis’ A,6o. Mkeehen is not a newcomer to the tables. Even before winning event #3, he had some $664.6k in tournament profits to his name.

The second event which produced a winner was event #4, the $500 PLO 8 or Better one. Joe Villella won this one, taking home the $18.3k top prize. A total of 140 players bellied up to the tables in this event, and the one Villella defeated heads-up for the title was Hamid Kashvari.
The third event to produce a winner at the Borgata Winter Poker Open was event #5, the $100k Guaranteed Big Stack NL Holdem Re-entry one, which saw Iverson Cotton Snuffer rise to the top. The reward of the winner was $63.8k in this one, and the player Snuffer had to dispose of heads-up was Chad Brown.
This tournament saw 818 players belly up to its tables. The last hand of the event saw Snuffer’s A,Qo defeat Brown’s Kh, 6h.
