The 2014 Borgata Winter Poker Open may have gotten started on the wrong foot, but the bustle surrounding the fake chip cheating in the first event has finally subsided for good. The 6th day of the Series saw three more players earn their stripes: David Arsht, Richard Gargel and Pat Knoll.
Event #6, the $500 HORSE one, saw 113 players belly up to the tables. Arsht, the winner, walked away with a $14.7k top prize. He said he played things cautiously and just sat back when others were pushing their stacks into the middle looking for the double-up. All of a sudden, Arsht says he woke up with all the chips in front of him.
The one he bested heads-up was Shawn Ryan, who ended up with a $8.1k prize.
Event #7, the $340
NL Holdem Seniors’ tournament, saw 271 players belly up to the tables. It took him 18 hours, but in the end, Richard Gargel rose to the top, taking down the $22k top prize. Gargel bested Natale Kuey heads-up. The share of the runner-up was $13k. None of the other players finished with 5-figure prizes. Alan Sansone finished 3rd, picking up $7.4k for his efforts.
Event #9, the $300 Ladies Deep Stack NL Holdem Re-Entry event, saw Pat Knoll walk away with the top prize. The winner was the only one to score in 5 figures: her share of the prize-pool was $10.1k. Knoll bested Megan Milburn heads-up for the win. The final hand of the
poker tournament saw Knoll’s A,5o triumph over Milburn’s 7s,5s.
Milburn’s share of the prize-pool was $5.5k. Teresa Sexton finished 3rd, for $3.2k, while Valeria Novak picked up $2.7k for her 4th place.
Other top finishers were Denise Ronca (5th place), Rose Ann Mussilo (6th place) and Dawn Wilnow (7th).
