Bwin WPT Merit Cyprus Poker Classic to Kick off on August 15

The WPT’s
Bwin.com Merit Cyprus Classic kicks off on August 15, and indeed, there’s already a lot of anticipation in the air, with players trading and buying packages on various poker forums online, looking to make the WPT stop which has grown into a true crowd-favorite over the last couple of years.
Besides the various WPT side events and the Main Event which is obviously the highlight of the series, there’s a lot more going on at the Merit Crystal Cove Casino and Resort: PartyPoker’s televised Big Game VII will kick off together with the Merit Cyprus Classic and quite a slew of high-profile professionals have already confirmed their participation.
Michael and Robert Mizrachi as well as Sam Trickett and Chino Rheem will play in the Big Game VII, together with Nicolas Chouity, Roger Hairabedian and
online poker legend Daniel Cates.
The rules of the Big Game will be tweaked for its 7th edition: the blinds are planned to be $50/$100 with a $200 straddle, but players will actually have to agree to those terms.
Every three hours, one of the players shall be evicted. The evictee will be chosen by online viewers. The WPT’s Bwin Merit Cyprus Classic is indeed well-known for the top-class high-stakes action it generates year after year, but it is also well-known and loved for another reason: the extravagant parties thrown by the organizers for the WPT crowd.
This year, the renowned Beach Party will take place on August 17 and it will feature special live performances, surprise guests and top-class DJs spinning to create the right kind of atmosphere.
Last year’s winner of the WPT Merit Cyprus Classic Main Event was
PartyPoker’s own Marvin Rettenmaier, who took home the top prize and the title and became the first ever back-to-back WPT Main Event winner.
