Caesars Green-lighted in New Jersey

As the date of the official full launch of real money online gambling and poker draws near in New Jersey, the last of the licenses are handed out and the last touches are added by those already licensed.
The final round of license approvals by the Division of Gaming Enforcement took place on Wednesday, and Caesars Interactive Entertainment highlighted the list of those still looking to get the nod from the authorities. Caesars own Harrah’s, Bally’s, Caesars and Showboat in Atlantic City, so they had no shortage of land-based anchors to boast. Two of those proprieties, Bally’s and Caesars, got the green light.
Caesars online offering will be powered by 888Holdings and Amaya Gaming. 888Holdings will provide the
online poker platform, which will be pretty much the same as the one currently offered by WSOP.com in Nevada. Amaya will handle the online casino side of the business.
Following the latest round of license approvals, of the 12 land-based gambling interests from Atlantic City, 7 are now entitled to legally offer real money online poker and gambling.
Harrah’s and Showboat still have their applications pending, under review, just like Resorts Casino Hotel, PokerStars’ land-based partner in Atlantic City. According to the Rational Group’s Head of Corporate Communications, Eric Hollreiser, it is now pretty much certain that his side will not gain approval in time to get ready for the November 26 roll-out, but all hope is obviously not lost yet for
PokerStars, despite rumors to the contrary that have taken off from various sources lately.
Hollreiser also said that PokerStars’ discussions with the New Jersey DGE were still in progress.
PokerStars’ entry to the market was one of the main driving factors behind the legalization effort, but opposition to it has always been staunch as well. It now looks like PokerStars’ competitors will gain a precious head-start in the Garden State.
