Chris Moorman Secures 20th Triple Crown

A few days ago, poker pro Chris Moorman announced that he was going to publish a poker strategy book. Yesterday, he made the headlines again, for a different, albeit not entirely unrelated reason: he managed to complete his 20th online poker Triple Crown. The Triple Crown is a distinction reserved for players who manage to win at least 3 different
poker tournaments at three different
online poker rooms over a 7-day period.
Last week, Moorman went well above and beyond that goal, winning 5 different poker tournaments at 4 different sites. Although only three of those tournaments fulfilled the requirements of the Triple Crown, his achievement was still extremely impressive.
Moorman’s most impressive win came in
PartyPoker’s Sunday $200k. The event saw 1,058 players register, missing the guarantee. Moorman made no deals on his way to the top. He took down the full $27.4k share of the winner, having bested a player known as “H0meb0is” heads-up. The share of the runner-up was $16.5k. None of the other players involved in the event finished with a 5-figure prize.
The biggest online poker tournament winner of the weekend came from PokerStars’ Sunday Million yet again. The biggest Sunday major of the online poker world saw 7,709 players belly up to its tables. Although this time around the guarantee was only a $1 million one, the field combined buy-ins, creating a $1.54 million purse.
There weren’t any deals at the top in the Sunday Million this time. The winner was Lauri Pesonen, who took down $231.2k for his efforts. Pesonen bested a player known as “fullhouseiii” heads-up. The runner-up took home $169.5k.
“Odintsov Spb” finished 3rd, for a $115.6k haul. None of the other players reached 6 figures prize-wise.
Joshua Hunt was the highest finishing notable (besides the winner of course). His 26th place was worth $3.39k.
PartyPoker have embarked on a massive promotional offensive lately, in the US as well as in other markets. The time to open an account with them is right now!
