Christian Lusardi – Jack of all Trades When it Comes to Scamming

Christian Lusardi, the poker player charged with having introduced fake chips into event #1 of the 2014 Borgata Poker Open, is apparently a genuine jack of all trades when it comes to making money in various illicit, and often borderline hilarious ways. In addition to the legal problems he’s currently having on account of his above said Borgata Winter Poker Open antics, Lusardi has now been charged with copyright infringement as well.
Apparently, when authorities searched his Fayetteville, NC house, quite a stash of pirated DVDs was uncovered. There were more than 37,000 disks together with DVD burners as well as equipment dedicated to the original-looking packaging of the bootlegged titles. The bootlegging operation was no small time, dime-a-dozen setup either: Lusardi has apparently made more than $1 million selling the DVDs at various flea markets and online.

The authorities have been on to his bootlegging scam for a while: they’ve been keeping an eye on him since mid 2012, when he apparently ordered a rather large shipment of counterfeit DVDs from China. The fact that he recently received a shipment of poker chips from China also fits into his Borgata Winter Poker Open scam picture nicely. Lusardi seems to be a typical hustler: before his DVD bootlegging operation and before his fake-chip move at the Borgata Winter Poker Open, he had had another run-in with the law. Back in 2008, his house was apparently raided in connection with an illegal gambling ring, and illegal alcohol.

Lusardi’s downfall at the Borgata Winter Poker Open was triggered by the ridiculous way in which he attempted to get rid of the fake chips he had upon him in the wake of the scandal: he clogged the toilet of his hotel room trying to flush them away, and hotel officials immediately caught on.
