Collusion at the PPT? Pasqualini and Rossi in Hot Water

While the days of hiding aces in one’s sleeves/hat/boots are long gone, cheating is apparently still as popular in live poker as ever and it’s relatively easy to pull off too in the form of collusion. Thanks to the ever-present video cameras through and the thousands of people who watch every single bit of footage several times over, spotting the cheating and exposing the cheaters has become relatively easy too.
The GPI has recently announced that they have suspended poker players Cederic Rossi and Jean-Paul Pasqualini, for alleged collusion in the Partouche Poker Tour’s controversial 2012 Main Event. Although GPI CEO Alexandre Dreyfus said that the decision was a difficult one to make, by taking a peek at the video below, most people will probably agree it was in fact a no-brainer.
The two players, who ended up finishing first and second in the
poker tournament were quite obviously communicating through hand signals and making all the right lay-downs in the all the right moments. One of them even seems to smirk at one point at how well their scheme is working.
Dreyfus said that the GPI tried not to act hastily in the matter. In fact, they have apparently deliberated for 10 days before bringing down the hammer on the two cheaters. The reason why extreme caution was used in doling out the suspensions was that according to Dreyfus, through such penalties, the GPI may find itself on a slippery slope. Still, the video evidence in this case seems quite edifying indeed, and at the end of the day, we can only agree with the GPI’s decision.
Pasqualini and Cederic have lost their GPI spots and they have had “suspended” slapped onto their player profiles.
Here’s the video showing the two colluders in action:
