Daniel Cates’s Full Tilt Profits Exceed the $10 Million Mark

Daniel Cates has been one of the main headliners of online poker news portals, TV channels and highlight-reels for years now, so it’s obvious to everyone at this point that he is a profitable player. He, unlike Gus Hansen, has mostly made the headlines on accounts of his winnings and not his losses. Just how profitable is he though? While frankly, it’s difficult to say how profitable he is in general, what is known about him is that he’s no amassed more than $100 million in profits at Full Tilt Poker. The magical milestone was surpassed by the poker pro on August 6, after a 26-hour long marathon session at the online cash game tables, the end of which saw him sit back some $677.4k richer.
He started off with a relatively fruitless, 9-hour long effort, but he then took his game to a different level.
His session was broken up into 4 smaller ones, and at the end of all of them, he was $677k above the red line. While he did give some of that money back during a subsequent session, he still finished up $563.8k and that took him over the $10 million mark.

No wonder though that Cates has been so successful at Full Tilt: so far this year, he’s the biggest cash game winner at the site, with profits totaling $2.78 million. His dominance is so overwhelming in fact that his winnings total twice as much as those of current second place man Mikael Thuritz, who has some $1.3 million to his name. The players who “contributed” to Cates’ latest success were Niki Jedlicka, samrostan and Phil Galfond, at the high stakes triple draw tables.
