PokerStars’ Daniel Negreanu has indeed been one of the central characters of the poker and
online poker boom of the last decade and he has been arguably one of the most influential and charismatic players ever to hit the green felt in a televised game. Now, it looks like the Canadian pro may just get due recognition for his poker accomplishments, by being inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame.
A few months ago, the World Series of Poker published the list of 10 Poker HoF inductees, and now, the decision has finally been handed down by the board comprised of 21 living HoF members and a media-panel made up of 20 specialists. The two poker personalities to be inducted are Daniel Negreanu and tournament director Jack McClelland.

Players who made the 2014 list of nominees but didn’t make the cut in the end this time were: Huck Seed, Chris Bjorin, Jennifer Harman, Ted Forrest, Humberto Brenes, Bruno Fitoussi and Bob Hooks.
Everything considered, Negreanu was indeed the right choice for induction, as he was by far the highest-profile poker celebrity from the above said bunch.
Besides his obvious charisma and great ambassador skills, Negreanu has the goods to show too: he has 6 WSOP bracelets and almost $30 million in lifetime earnings, more than anyone else out there. Two times he managed to take down the WSOP’s Player of the Year title, and he has two WPT titles as the cherry on top of his already impressive pile of accomplishments.
The only reason why he wasn’t inducted earlier was that he didn’t meet the age requirements. Forty is the youngest one can be inducted into the HoF. Chip Reese was also inducted at the age of 40.
