Daniel Negreanu’s Fixed-Limit Challenge

Daniel Negreanu has always been known as a good FL
Holdem player. As a matter of fact, 4 of his 5 WSOP bracelets came in various fixed-limit events, a telltale clue regarding his fixed limit abilities. Although on the NL front, there’s always something interesting going on online, FL games haven’t really gained any sort of high profile exposure lately. Certainly, when it comes to the show-factor, FL Holdem fades in comparison to NL and PL games, but real poker fans know that FL Holdem is a kind of a forgotten form of art that does indeed deserve more recognition and visibility.
Negreanu has set out to bring FL Holdem back into the spotlight by embarking on a FL challenge session against online poker phenom rUaBot. rUaBot has made a name for himself online playing FL Holdem. We’re not sure exactly how impressive his accomplishments are, but he’s said to have generated several thousands of dollars playing limit Holdem.
In an interview regarding the upcoming challenge session, rUaBot sang the praises of his favorite betting structure, pointing it out that setting up one’s generic game is easy in fixed limit, but given the ample space for strategic maneuvering, picking up and exploiting an opponent’s betting patterns has never been short of an art-form.
The challenge will feature a quite unique format. Negreanu and rUaBot will log 1,250 hands at the $200/$400 FL tables, each of them bringing $75k to the action. The player who manages to felt his opponent or finishes with a profit, will be the winner of the challenge.
In preparation for the session, Negreanu has jokingly tweeted that his goal was to avoid getting crushed. While that is certainly playing the humble card, Negreanu is by no means a push-over when it comes to heads-up challenges, One must not forget that he was one of the very select few who managed to actually win a heads-up online challenge session against Viktor Blom, even though he ended up with a cumulated loss at the end of it all.
